Your bargaining team met with the District, June 14th.
Compensation: The District proposal was to give CWA bargaining unit workers a 1/2 percent increase in pay for the 2017-2018 school year. They also proposed that there would be wage reopeners for the second and third year of the contract. This is still totaly unacceptible. It continues to shows what the District thinks of their workers. It is pretty bad that the School Board Members say that employee wages are top priority and then they have the gall to give us this crappy proposal. Unbelievable! We will not and cannot acccept it.
Health Insurance: They gave us a proposal that would add another plan choice with a much higher deductible than the current one. Also, they want the employees to pay any additional increases in the Health Insurance and the District will not pay any additional cost. That means, if the insurance they are predicting goes up 20%, the workers will pay it all and the District will pay none for the next three years.. Also unaccecptible!
Be ready, soon it will be the time to start raising hell with the Board. We will give you instructions soon as to what we will need you to do. Stand by sisters and brothers for a fight.
The next Bargaining Session is set for June 1 and June 27, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at the School District Office Building.
